Someone once said, if you have never been to Sabato and appreciate the nice things they have in their tiny but cosy store in Mt Eden, you are not a “certified” foodie.

My partner and I arrived at Sabato Sunday market when it was really hot and all we wanted was a cool bottle of soft drink, but our first stop was indeed Judge Bao – Ryan’s friends’ food truck whose sell homemade Chinese bun with interesting recipes from Shanghai. The soft lovely handmade bao was served with cooked pork belly in hoisin sauce, top with roasted peanut and fresh coriander – it was beautifully tender, juicy and highly pleasant, no question.

img_4640We also had a “cone” of crispy hand-cut fries from the Double Dutch Fries – voted the best fries in Auckland. Another must try whenever you can catch them pop up stall ! I was fascinated by how yummy it was (also in presentation) with the addition of perfectly mixed mayo and tomato sauce.

Unlike other fresh & gorgeous store (We had a chance to come down to Remuera for Ryan’s food demo at Farro and I was truly being mesmerized, another must-do !!), Sabato has a little bit less to offer; but stock gourmet, unique & exotic foods and ingredients – from sweets, chocolate, to dipping/cooking sauces, pastas, nuts, etc…and especially rare range of chorizos, hams and cheeses. Another adding value to this amazing place is we can learn new Italian cooking recipes and try all the tasty available sample (which is almost everything!)

There is no doubt that you are in immaculate place here !
